Calhoun Baseball 2015 Season Preview

The Warhawks are excited to start this years season with an almost brand new team. Under veteran coach Mike Burns, the Warhawks have high expectations for this year's season coming off a good fall.

With many new additions to this years team including transfers from other universities, junior colleges, and many incoming freshman. This year's team does not represent the stereotypical Calhoun baseball team.

Pitching

Under pitching coach Joey Noro, a former Calhoun pitcher. The Warhawk's staff has a few returning  sophmores including: Jake Whitt (Hartselle, AL), Weston Callahan (Huntsville, AL), Will Gann (Decatur, AL). This year's new additions to the staff consist of: Shane Priest (Largo, FL), Michael Busby (Trussville, AL), Brent Stephensons (Pinson, AL), Devin Conroy (Phoenix, MD), Tanner Reed (Moulton, AL), Drake Whitten (Decatur, AL), Link Burns (Decatur, AL), Carson Jones (Moulton, AL), Grant Warner (Decatur, AL). Also adding talent to this year's staff is our two-way players, such as: Tanner Burns (Harvest, AL), Ty Pitts (Bowling Green, KY), Jay Copeland (Gadsen, AL), Tyler Willinger (Marysville, IN), Hunter Johnson (Louisville, KY).

Infield

This year's Warhawks will show a fairly new infield under the leadership of returning firstbaseman Tripp Jamieson (Emerson, GA). However, this years infield will consist of many position battles from players such as: William Woller (Decatur, AL), Tanner Burns (Harvest, AL), Andrew Chuba (West Homestead, PA), Ty Pitts (Bowling Green, KY), Zach Crocker (Hanceville, AL), Caleb Spears (Scottsboro, AL), Jay Copeland (Gadsen, AL), Will Smith (Athens, AL), Hunter Johnson (Louisville, KY), and Justin Friends (Johns Creek, GA).

Outfield

This years outfield will consist of many returning players, and also some new additions. This years outfield consist of: Conner Rivers (Homewood, AL), Blake DeVine (Gadsen, AL), Jared McCurdy (Pinson, AL), Chase Colon (Decatur, AL), Tyler Willinger (Marysville, IN), and AC D'Antonio (Harvest, AL), and Quinton McCarty (Eldridge, AL).

Catchers

Under the leadership of Justin Friend (Johns Creek, GA), this years catchers plan on being very successful this season. With many new catching additions including: Zach Crocker (Hanceville, AL), Caleb Spears (Scottsboro, AL), Jared McCurdy (Pinson, AL), and Will Smith (Athens, AL).

The Warhawks will begin this season at home on Friday February 6th against Southwest Tennessee Community College.
