West GA Tech Outdone by Snead

BOAZ – The Snead State Lady Parsons softball team defeated West Georgia Technical 6-4 and 4-3 on Tuesday.

Albertville's Katlin Light had two extra base hits in game one. West Georgia Tech only managed one hit off of pitcher Sara Duncan. She allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during her two innings of work.

The Lady Parsons were led by Katlin and Mary Graves, who teamed up for four hits and five RBIs.

WGT grabbed an early lead in the first but the Lady Parsons got one-run boosts in each of the third, fourth and six innings. In the third, Snead State scored on an RBI double by Light, scoring Kelsey Pelham.

Game two proved to be a back-and-forth affair for the Lady Parsons. But the Parsons came out on top for the win.

The Lady Parsons took the lead in the eighth inning and held on for the win. The Parsons scored on an RBI single by Boston Claborn off Keisha Stone, scoring Geraldine's Caitlyn Roe.

Light racked up two RBIs on two hits and homered in the third inning and singled in the fifth inning.

Christian Rhodes gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out four during her five innings of work.

Snead took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third. Light's homer brought home Kelsey Bowman.

The Lady Parsons next game will be in Alexandria City against Central Alabama on Feb. 25. Snead State will return home on Feb. 26 to take on Motlow State. The double-header will begin at 1 p.m.
