HANCEVILLE – Wallace State's volleyball team continues to roll. The Lions swept Jeff Davis and Faulkner State in a pair of matches over the weekend, remaining undefeated in conference play and extending their winning streak to nine.
Wallace State (14-3, 5-0 Alabama Community College Conference) defeated Jeff Davis 25-17, 25-14, 25-8 and followed it with a 25-23, 25-15, 25-13 triumph over Faulkner State.
In the match against Jeff Davis, Sidney Cooper led the way with 18 digs and nine kills for Wallace State. Sophomore Kaci Kirk had a team-high 24 assists for the Lions, Sarah Ellen Battles had 17 digs, Savanna Tidwell had 13 kills, Kheala Roberts finished with nine kills, Teryn Simmons had eight kills and Stephanie Eckerd contributed five kills and four digs.
In the victory over Faulkner State, Syretha Pride finished with 13 kills, four digs and two blocks for Wallace State and Bethany Johnson had 13 kills and seven digs. Kirk had eight assists, Battles had nine digs, CeCe Hall finished with seven kills, Tidwell had five kills, Cooper had four kills and four digs and BreAnna Thompson added four kills.
Wallace State returns to Tom Drake Coliseum twice this week after four consecutive matches on the road. The Lions host rival Gadsden State at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Jeff Davis on Friday.
