With a heartbreaker one run loss for a fourth place finish in the 2018 ACCC tournament, and graduation of eight starting positions, the 2019 Lady Warhawks face a tremendous challenge as they acclimate new faces to compete at a higher level.
Seven returning players, a desire to finish in the finals of the ACCC tournament, and a competitive schedule should provide ample motivation for the Lady Warhawks to push their teammates to win in the Alabama Community College Conference. The faces on the mound will have the most familiarity of the team. Sophomores Kendall Mills and McKenna Rose will be joined by Maggie Covington and Savanna Uhlman to complete the pitching staff. Rayna Melton and Crystal McElhaney will share responsibilities behind the plate. Caroline Parker (shortstop), Aubree Little and Crystal McElhaney (3rd Base) will anchor the left side of the diamond while Mallorie Davis and Brooklyn Wallace will play 1st Base and 2nd Base. Asia Garth and Jessica Shaw have earned starting positions in the outfield. Mattie Kerr, Kaytlon Pegues, and Peyton Willcutt will share playing time at the other outfield position. Opportunities on the diamond for freshman Alex Green, Hailey Olsen, and transfer Kara Perry will depend on how quickly they can return to 100% following their off season surgeries.
Utility players Kalli Daniel and Peyton Willcutt will be in the lineup every day and add depth to several different positions.
Offensively, Mallorie Davis, Jessica Shaw, and Crystal McElhaney will fill the power slots in the lineup and are expected to hit for extra bases. Speedsters Asia Garth and Mattie Kerr should keep the opponent guessing with their ability to steal bases.
This year's team is young and inexperienced at the collegiate level but do understand their success depends on how quickly every team member adapts to their role on the team. The 2019 Lady Warhawk's have intentions to place themselves in a position to be a leader in the northern division and the Alabama Community College Conference.
